1. Getting Started with EachText

EachText helps you send a personal, one-to-one text message to every person in a contact group using your iPhone’s built-in Apple Messages app—without creating a group thread where everyone sees each other’s phone numbers and replies.

  1. Create a Group: On the My Groups home screen, tap + New Group, enter a name, and tap Create.
  2. Add Contacts: Tap Add Contacts, grant Contacts access when prompted, select the people you want to include, and tap Add Selected Contacts.
  3. Compose & Personalize: Tap Send Message, write your message, and tap Insert First Name to place {firstName} where each recipient’s first name should appear.
  4. Preview Every Recipient: Use the left and right arrows in the Preview card to check how your message looks for each member of the group.
  5. Send Individually: Tap Start Sending, then tap Open Text Message. Review and tap Send inside Apple Messages for each person as EachText progresses through your group.

2. Creating & Managing Contact Groups

  • Create a new group: Tap + New Group at the bottom of the My Groups screen, type a descriptive name (such as Saturday Volunteers, Youth Group Parents, or Family), and tap Create.
  • Rename a group: On the My Groups screen, tap the ••• menu icon on a group card (or open the group and tap the edit/pencil icon in the header), enter the new name, and tap Save.
  • Remove a member from a group: Open the group and tap the × button next to that person’s name. Removing someone from an EachText group only removes them from that list inside EachText—it never deletes or modifies the contact in your iPhone’s Contacts app.
  • Delete a group: Tap the ••• menu on a group card (or the trash icon inside the group) and confirm Delete.

3. Adding Phone Contacts & Choosing Phone Numbers

  • Alphabetical list & search: Open a group and tap Add Contacts. Contacts from your iPhone that have at least one telephone number are listed alphabetically. Use the Search by name bar at the top to filter quickly.
  • Choosing between multiple phone numbers: If a contact has more than one telephone number saved (for example, mobile and work), select the contact and tap the phone-number chip you want EachText to use for that group.
  • Saving your selection: Tap Add Selected Contacts at the bottom of the screen to save your chosen members to the group.

4. Enabling Full or Limited Contacts Access

On iOS, you can grant EachText access to your entire address book (Full Access) or only specific people you pick (Limited Access).

How to update your Contacts permission at any time:

  1. On the EachText My Groups screen, tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap Manage Contacts Access (or open the iPhone Settings app → Apps → EachText → Contacts).
  3. Choose Full Access (so all contacts with phone numbers are available in EachText) or Limited Access (to select specific contacts to share with EachText).

Note: If you selected Limited Access and don’t see a contact when adding members to a group, update your shared contact selection in Settings → EachText → Contacts.

5. Inserting First Names ({firstName})

  • Using the Insert First Name button: On the Compose Message screen, place your cursor where you want the person’s name to appear and tap Insert First Name. EachText inserts the {firstName} placeholder and turns on Personalize with first name.
  • How replacement works: When Personalize with first name is turned ON, every {firstName} (or {firstname}) token is replaced with each recipient’s saved first name.
  • Contacts without a first name: If a contact has no first name saved, EachText automatically removes the {firstName} placeholder and tidies extra spaces or punctuation so the greeting still reads naturally (for example, “Good morning, {firstName}!” automatically becomes “Good morning!”).

6. Sending Personalized Messages

  • Preview before sending: On the Compose Message screen, use the < and > buttons in the Preview card to review the exact message text for every recipient in your group.
  • Opening the iPhone Messages composer: Tap Start Sending, then tap Open Text Message. EachText opens Apple’s built-in Messages sheet pre-addressed to one recipient with their personalized message.
  • You stay in full control: Nothing is ever sent automatically or in the background. You review the message inside Apple Messages and manually tap the blue/green Send arrow for every person.

7. Using Automatic Message Advancement

On the Sending screen, Auto-open next message is enabled by default on iPhone to give you a seamless recipient-to-recipient workflow:

  • How it works: You tap Open Text Message for the first recipient and manually tap Send inside Apple Messages. As soon as that Messages sheet finishes closing, EachText automatically records the step, advances to the next recipient, and opens the next native Messages composer pre-filled for that person.
  • What if I tap Cancel in Messages? If you cancel or close the Messages composer without tapping Send, EachText automatically pauses auto-advance on that recipient so you can decide whether to Try Again, Skip, or Pause Sending.
  • Stopping auto-advance or switching to manual mode: You can tap Stop Auto-Advance while a transition is in progress, or toggle off Auto-open next message at any time if you prefer to tap Next Recipient and Open Text Message manually between recipients.

8. Pausing, Resuming & Automatic Draft Clearing

  • Pausing a session: Tap Pause Sending at any point during a sending session. EachText saves your exact progress on your iPhone.
  • Resuming where you left off: When you return to that group, you will see a Paused session — Tap to resume banner showing how many recipients have already been processed. Tap it to continue with the remaining recipients without sending duplicate messages.
  • Starting fresh: On the Compose Message screen, if an unfinished session exists, you can choose Resume Where You Left Off or Start Fresh (Reset Progress).
  • Automatic draft clearing on completion: Once you finish sending to an entire contact group and reach the completion summary, EachText automatically clears that group’s saved message draft so the message box is clean and empty the next time you message that group.

9. Deleting Saved App Data

All groups, member lists, drafts, and sending sessions are stored locally on your iPhone. To erase everything stored inside EachText at once:

  1. Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner of the My Groups home screen.
  2. Scroll to the Your saved data section and tap Delete All My Data.
  3. Tap Delete Everything to confirm. All groups, drafts, and session history inside EachText will be permanently removed from your device (your iPhone Contacts app is never affected).

10. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Some of my iPhone contacts do not appear when I tap “Add Contacts”

  • Make sure the contact has at least one telephone number saved in your iPhone Contacts app (contacts with only an email address are excluded).
  • If you previously chose Limited Access when iOS asked for Contacts permission, open Settings → Manage Contacts Access in EachText and switch Contacts to Full Access (or add the missing contacts to your shared selection).

EachText says “Text messaging isn’t available on this device”

  • EachText uses your iPhone’s built-in Apple Messages app to send SMS and iMessage. Ensure you are running EachText on an iPhone with an active cellular plan or iMessage enabled in iOS Settings.

Why does recipient status say “Send tapped in Messages (delivery not confirmed)”?

  • For your privacy, Apple iOS only tells EachText whether you tapped Send or Cancel inside the Messages composer sheet; iOS does not expose carrier delivery receipts to third-party apps. Open your iPhone Messages app if you want to check carrier or iMessage delivery status for a conversation.

I see a warning about damaged local storage on launch

  • In the rare event that local storage is interrupted by an unexpected device shutdown, EachText preserves a backup copy of the raw data and displays a recovery choice on the home screen. Tap Recover Valid Items to salvage intact groups, or tap Reset Local Data to start clean.
